Quantity surveyors serve as the cost managers within the construction industry. As students pursue a recognized degree in this field, they will gain knowledge on how to effectively organize, control, and manage project costs. This includes understanding building economics, contracts, construction law, technology, and project management. Through a combination of individual and group assessments, students will develop essential core skills. Their strong analytical, arithmetic, and IT abilities will be honed, transforming them into innovative team players with problem-solving skills necessary for success in the industry. This course equips students with the confidence and skills needed to handle complex contractual situations and negotiations, while also providing an industry perspective on current issues. Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), graduates of this course are eligible for full membership upon completion of approved professional practice and a successful final assessment of professional competence by the RICS. An optional 'sandwich' year, involving paid employment in the industry, offers students the opportunity to enhance their skills and experience. Typically taken between the second and third year of the degree, this additional year can greatly benefit students in their studies and future job prospects.
