Course overview

The Biological Sciences is a field that encompasses the study of all life and living organisms. Students who are interested in biology have opportunities to pursue a wide range of careers and academic pursuits. Students have the choice of pursuing a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts degree option, with elective coursework in one of three focal areas (Cell and molecular biology, Ecology, environment and conservation, Health sciences). The core curriculum required of all biological sciences majors consists of basic course work in introductory biology, biodiversity, cellular biology, evolution, genetics, and ecology. A variety of advanced courses in focal areas offer greater depth, and preparation for employment or many postgraduate opportunities.
