Course overview

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting program is designed to provide students with a strong professional foundation in the accounting concepts necessary for careers in both public accounting and the private sector. Public accountants work with clients in many different industries. They audit the financial records of organizations, provide tax preparation and advice, work with accounting information systems, and consult on a variety of business problems. While some graduates work within large multinational firms, others work for regional or local firms. Management accountants work for a single organization, which may be a large corporation, a small business, a not-for-profit organization, or a governmental entity. They are a key part of the management team and analyze data, recommend ways to increase efficiency and profitability, and help plan for the future. Specialized tasks include internal auditing, financial accounting, cost accounting, tax planning and compliance, planning and budgeting, forensic and investigative accounting, information systems security, and data analytics.
