The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) NCATE accredited program prepares our graduates to provide early intervention, care and education for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten children with and without disabilities and their families. The program includes courses in early childhood special education, child development, early childhood, and professional education. Center-based early childhood programs, and public school preschool and kindergarten classrooms provide field and clinical experiences. Students will complete 200 field experience hours in these early childhood settings prior to student teaching. Our 2+2 Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) program, at MSU’s Madisonville, Henderson, Paducah and Hopkinsville Regional Campuses, provide course work and practicum experiences for students from around the West Kentucky region. The program requires you to participate in a semester long student teaching experience in appropriate settings. Completion of the IECE program leads to a birth to primary teaching certification. In addition, you must pass the IECE Praxis exam as part of the certification requirements.
