The Biomedical Sciences curriculum provides students with an academic foundation and practical experience to pursue a career in biomedical research or the medical sciences. The curriculum includes required courses and research opportunities to prepare students for further studies at the graduate level or for employment as research technicians in academic or industry settings. Central to the curriculum are five mandatory research courses. The first course introduces students to research laboratory techniques. The second and third courses involve a yearlong research project, with students developing a proposal in the second semester and completing and presenting their work in the third semester. The fourth and fifth courses follow a similar structure, with the second project potentially building upon the first project under the guidance of the same mentor.
