Course overview

Majoring in Psychology is an exciting and meaningful life experience. Our program’s small size creates opportunities to work closely with department faculty, including practicing psychologists, acclaimed teachers, and researchers.Psychology – the scientific study of the mind and behavior – is a dynamic and multifaceted field. During your undergraduate years you will learn the foundations of psychological science, involve yourself in the discipline by working within the field, design and carry out your own research, and attend national or regional professional conferences. The Psychology program provides a comprehensive foundation in the psychological sciences, inclusive of theory, research, and practice, in an atmosphere that models mutual respect and encourages individual challenge. In addition to the fundamental core curriculum, there are two components which make the Dominican psychology curriculum distinctive: first-hand experience in the field and the selection of a personal research focus through the field placement requirement and senior research project.
