The Bachelor of Science in Criminology program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of criminal behavior, the criminal justice system, and societal responses to crime. The curriculum integrates core courses in criminology, criminal law, law enforcement, corrections, and forensic science, with specialized courses in criminal psychology, juvenile delinquency, social justice, and criminal investigations. Students explore the causes and consequences of crime, the functioning of criminal justice institutions (such as police, courts, and correctional systems), and the impact of criminal behavior on communities. The program emphasizes research, critical thinking, and ethical considerations in addressing crime and justice issues. Through practical experiences such as internships, case studies, and fieldwork, students develop the skills necessary for careers in law enforcement, corrections, criminal investigations, probation, and social services. The program also prepares students for roles in policy-making, advocacy, or further graduate studies in criminology, law, or public administration. Graduates are well-prepared to work in various sectors, including local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, probation and parole, correctional facilities, private security, and criminal justice policy organizations.
