The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education program prepares students to become skilled educators for young children, typically ages 0 to 8, by focusing on child development, teaching strategies, and curriculum design. The curriculum includes foundational courses in child psychology, educational theory, language development, and family engagement, alongside hands-on training in classroom management, assessment, and inclusive teaching practices. Students gain knowledge of how young children learn and develop, and they learn how to create age-appropriate learning environments that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. The program also emphasizes the importance of diversity, equity, and cultural competence in education, equipping students to teach children from various backgrounds. Through field placements, internships, and classroom observations, students gain practical experience in real-world educational settings, working with young children and collaborating with families and other professionals. The program prepares graduates for roles as preschool, kindergarten, or early elementary school teachers, as well as positions in child development centers, educational advocacy, or program coordination. Graduates of the program are eligible for teaching certification in many regions and are well-equipped to support early childhood development through educational leadership and advocacy. The degree also provides a foundation for further studies in educational leadership or special education.
